Insects are pretty amazing.
We maintain hives of stingless native bees and the garden’s very happy because of them. We also have grasshoppers, which aren’t as nice for the garden… but the birds and spiders are happy as a result.
The European honey bees are from another garden, but they get along well with our native bees.

This is the division of a full native bee hive. We have split the hive in two and are checking to ensure that the honeycomb is split evenly; allowing the new hive to develop a queen (from an existing worker) and form a new colony. The bees don't have stings, so they crawl everywhere but are harmless.
