I love seeing live music. A good musician is able to demonstrate technical skill and heartfelt emotion; there are few other professions as demanding as this.
I’m a fan of rock, reggae, techno, dub, metal, and love the atmosphere in a good venue. My favourite destinations are The Zoo, The Tivoli and The Rails. Here are some photos of fantastic musicians.
Laneway music in Byron Bay. Acoustics in the Laneway are very loud.
Sabrina Lawrie at The Zoo's 25th birthday gig
Lindsay McDougall from Frenzal Rhomb at Spring Loaded 2021. He was also the compere for the day, and commendably managed to convince the stage invasion crowd to stand back 50 metres (to allow Grinspoon to continue.)

Slayer playing their farewell tour at the Riverstage, Brisbane. No farewell tour is complete without mushroom clouds
The onstage sound engineer at the Zoo - making the music more awesome. These guys are the underappreciated part of the live music scene - and a critical part of the production.

Sarah McLeod from the Superjesus playing at The Zoo, Fortitude Valley. I first saw them in 1995 at The Zoo; the crowd was the same age as myself. The crowd is still the same age as myself... and we're all wearing earplugs...
It's OK to sit on someone's shoulders and take selfies in front of the stage... If you're Sarah McLeod from the Superjesus 🙂
Dubmarine at the Woodford Folk Festival on New Year's Eve. These guys were awesome!
Dennis Wilson rocking the house at the Rails, Byron Bay. One of the best live gigs I've been to, and definitely one of the best bars in the world.
